Normanby Cup: Brisbane Irish vs Med Uni
Round 2 saw the Irish take-on last year’s winner Med Uni at home. The Irish got off to a great start with an early try from #8 Aiken Walker. Three more tries from John Watkins, Wes Kennedy and Adrian Spry saw off the University side. Matt Smith kicked 3 conversions.
3/2/1 points for the day went to Ryan Smith (1 point), Will Waugh and Adrian Spry (2 points each) and John Watkins (3 points).
Final score: Brisbane Irish 26 Med Uni 5.

Pegg Cup: Brisbane Irish vs North Lakes
Brisbane Irish 1st grade took-on the newly formed North Lakes at home on a very wet day with muddy conditions. This was a very physical, contested game especially at the ruck, which resulted in many penalties and scrums. The Irish went for the lineout option early and managed to drive over the line for an early score from second row Eoin McGuinness and converted by Matt Smith. Another driving maul saw the Irish close to the North Lakes line and scrum half Shane Murphy sniped to go over for the Irish‘s 2nd try. Two more tries before the break from fullback Tom Benham saw the Irish 26-0 up at half time. Matt Smith kicked two more conversions. Some good runs in the second half by winger Matt Smith put Irish in good positions to score but failed to capitalise on their chances. The heavy rain had a big part to play in a stop-start second half.
