Women’s Round 4: Brisbane Irish vs Wests and Sunnybank.
Irish welcomed Wests and Sunnybank to Everton Park last Friday night. First up was Irish vs Wests. Irish kicked off and straight away stamped their mark on the game with some big hits and strong carries. Good direction around the pitch from half backs Yolande Moevao and Claudia Finney put the home side in front when Moevao touched down and converted her own try. Brisbane Irish 7 Wests 0
The second half saw the Irish front up again and with some scrambling defence kept Wests from scoring. Strong runs from Breeanna Nibbs saw her finish off a great team try. Full time Brisbane Irish 12 Wests 0.
Next up was a game against a strong Sunnybank team. Irish pushed hard and defended well for the most part of the game but couldn’t keep Sunnybank out. 3 tries in the second half left the full time score Brisbane Irish 0 Sunnybank 15. The girls played out of their skin and should be very proud. Up The Irish!
Normanby Cup Round 11: Ipswich Rangers vs Brisbane Irish.
Irish travelled to take on second place Ipswich last Friday night. Ipswich got in for a try after just 3 minutes, 5-0 Ipswich. Irish where a bit flat on the night and made a lot of mistakes and gave away penalties. Irish got themselves into scoring positions a few times but couldn’t find a way to get over the line. Ipswich got over for another 2 tries to leave the final score Ipswich Rangers 19 Brisbane Irish 0.
Irish will have to be a lot better next game at home to 5th place Souths if they want to keep their finals hopes alive.

Pegg Cup Round 11: North Lakes vs Brisbane Irish
1st Grade travelled north to take on North Lakes Looking to keep their unbeaten run going.
North Lakes came at the Irish with a very physical game plan and punched through the Irish defence a few times early in the game. North Lakes pressure eventually payed off when their back row dived in for a try. 5-0 to North Lakes. Irish then positioned themselves inside the North Lakes 22m line and with some good pick and go drives Irish prop Harry Fletcher touches down. Two more tries from Chace Carey and Brock McGarity left the half time score North Lakes 5 Brisbane Irish 19. Irish came flying out in the second half with some good phases to put captain Ryan Smith in for a score. Special mention must go to the Irish club captain and second row Chace Carey who got four tries and man of the match. Final score North Lakes 12 Brisbane Irish 47.
