2 out of 3 for the Irish at the Weekend The Irish recorded wins for A Grade on Saturday v Redcliffe and 3rd Grade on Friday night v TC Beirne while Reserve Grade went down to the Pumas A GRADE A Grade finally cracked the line in style (28-7) after threatening to rack up multiple tries in their last couple of games. The top side has been creating space in all their games this season but have so far been unable to convert these opportunities into multiple tries. On Saturday though all that changed as they registered 3, the highest total so far this year. While the flood gates haven't actually opened yet the feeling among the squad is that they are only now starting to touch their potential and much more is still possible This win, combined with other results on the day, means that A Grade are now 3 points clear in 4th spot above next week's opponents Ipswich who went down narrowly to Goodna. This means that next weeks home encounter against Ipswich will effectively be a double points game. A win for Ipswich would move them above the Irish in the league while a win for the Irish would increase the gap between the Irish in 4th spot and Ipswich. With 3rd spot holders Pine Rivers Boars facing a tough trip to Beenleigh a win for the Irish could potentially see them move up to equal or even outright 3rd spot while still having a game in hand over the Boars RESERVE GRADE Due to injuries and unavailabilities on the Reserve grade was to a large extent a scratch side. This aside, they showed a willingness to attack unrelentingly but in the end that just wasn't enough against a Pumas side which were playing in the A Grade competition only last season and they went down 28-8. Big positives on the day were débuts of some new players to the club who showed great potential and we hope to see them all at training this week so their play can be incorporated into the club's philosophy and playing style. It also marked the return of last year's Club Captain "Sal" Daley who presence around the club has been sorely missed this year due to his work commitments. Despite this loss, Reserve Grade's earlier results this year mean they still hold on to 3rd spot behind next week's opponents Ipswich. Ipswich are 4 points ahead of the Irish and the Irish have a game in hand over them. A victory in this clash would see them move into 3rd spot while still having a game in hand over Ipswich 3rd GRADE After breaking their duck in their previous match v Easts our newest side was determined to show this result was no flash in the pan. They did this in style with a 26 - 5 victory over the team above them in the ladder - TC Beirne. The victory moves the side up into 5th spot and sets up a fascinating clash for next weekend against 3rd placed AG Vet A victory for the Irish and a defeat for 3rd placed Medicals who face a daunting trip to face new competition leaders Easts Longhorns would move them into 4th spot. SUMMARY This coming weekend is going to be a cracker and no mistake. With the potential so see the top 2 sides cracking the top 3 in their divisions for the first time and 3rd grade to make it into the 4 in their comp there is everything to play for at the Irish this week. With Brisbane Irish being the only Suburban club to field 3 senior sides this weekend provides the opportunity for the club to mark itself as a real force on the Brisbane Suburban Rugby map. Whether you are a player, ex player or supporter, the club asks for your support this coming week either by your attendance at training or on the sideline on Friday and Saturday. Lets all pull together and show what being part of The Mighty Brisbane Irish is all about
