A Grade After a win and a draw in their last 2 games at home A Grade have moved to 4th spot on the ladder equal on points with Ipswich and 1 ahead of Gatton who appear to have a game in hand but don't due to a forfeit. With both these sides playing away against tough opposition, in Beenleigh and Goodna respectively, this weekend's game against Redcliffe provides the opportunity for our top side to consolidate its spot in the top 4. Although they are currently in 7th spot Redcliffe have had mixed results so far and appear to be able to raise themselves for the big games having recorded an upset 7-5 win over Wynnum in round 3 and last weekend going down by only 20-16 against competition leaders Goodna Redcliffe will definitely be out to try and take another scalp this weekend but the Irish showed against Beenleigh that when they commit themselves to moving the ball they can be one of the most dangerous teams in the competition. While finishing let the side down a bit last weekend the side is definitely on the right track and we are all waiting for the game when they crack the dam and run in a flood of tries. Will it be this weekend? There's only one way to find out and that is by making your way to the Les Hughes Sporting Complex at Pine Rivers for 3pm to see for your support and cheer on the Green
Reserve Grade Our second team have so far proven to be the top performers this season as they look to follow up their Premiership win in the Scotney Cup last year by going for the Pegg Cup this season. With the exception of a disappointing 8-3 loss to the Pine Rivers Boars in the 3rd round they have shown both their ability to score tries in the 2 games against Gatton and their spirit and determination in a hard fought win against the Everton Park Roosters last weekend. As a result they are currently in 3rd place on the ladder and have the best for and against. The Pumas, on the other hand, are only 4 points behind them in 4th spot and are coming off a bye last weekend. A Victory for the Irish would mean they open up a solid gap ahead of the Pumas and with Ipswich on a bye a bonus point win would see them move to second spot and if Wynnum have problems against the Boars then 1st spot is possible Combined with the A Grade game this will make for a fantastic afternoon of rugby and every Irish supporter should be making their way out to Pine Rivers to cheers our sides on Date: 16th May Venue: Les Hughes Sporting Complex, Pine Rivers Times: Reserve Grade - 1:30pm, A Grade - 3.00pm
Third Grade In their last game, in round 5, the 3s finally broke their duck after a series of narrow defeats and showed they have all that is required to win in this competition. This victory, combined with the bonus points they received for their narrow losses sees them currently placed at 6th in the ladder just ahead of this weekend's opposition, TC Beirne, on for and against. A win for the Irish would therefore see them consolidate themselves in the middle of the table and allow them to start focussing on the top 4 in the weeks to come Date: Friday 15th May Kick Off: 8:40pm Ground: Easts Rugby Union, Halifax Street, Coorparoo
Reds v Hurricanes This Saturday at 7.30pm the Queensland Reds play their last game of this season's Super 14. While it has been a disappointing season for the Reds they have shown they can upset the big names with victories over the Sharks and the Blues. The visit of the Wellington Hurricanes therefore presents another giant killing opportunity for them the Reds have shown no-one can ever count them out. 2 weeks ago saw the club out in numbers at Kitty O'Shea's before and after the game and being very noticeable in the grandstands with their green shirts. Lets see if we can have the same effect this Saturday and send the Reds off with a cheer of Green
