Match previews 1st/2nd May

This weekend sees all our sides returning to the field after a bye last weekend for Reserve Grade

Saturday 2nd May - A Grade and Reserve Grade v UQ Gatton

The restructuring of the draws sees and early rematch against our first opponents of the year - the Gatton Black Pigs. The first round of games saw an awe inspiring victory for Reserve Grade by 45 - 0 but this was accompanied by a dissapointing 19-7 defeat for A Grade. In fairness to A Grade they had 8 players who had to leave the pitch due to injuries including 5 Forwards and this number of enforced changes would be hard for any side to handle.

Despite this it was all Irish in the last 10 minutes when they hammered the Gatton line but were just unable to convert the pressure into points

There is no doubt that for A Grade the game this Saturday is classed as unfinished business and the determination to reverse the previous result was easily sensed at training last night

The sense of anticipation for these clashes is heightened by this weekend's games seeing us run out on our new pitch for the first time this year and a good crowd is expected

Afterwards there is transport being organised for everyone to Kitty O'Shea's then on to Suncorp for the Reds v Brumbies game and this weekend is definitely not one to be missed

Venue - Hurdcotte Street, Ennogera

Times

Reserve Grade - 1.30pm

A Grade - 3.00pm

Friday 1st May - 3rd Grade v Easts

This friday night sees 3rd Grade make  a return trip to Bottomley Park but this time to take on Easts Union as opposed to Easts Longhorns. This Easts side is new to the competition and with them having gone down to the Longhorns 2 weeks ago 27 - 0 and our third grade's score v the Longhorns at 33-7 the 2 sides look like they will be fairly evenly matched

Will this be the game where the 3rds record their first victory of the year? It is a definite possibility and therefore a game well worth the effort of going out to see

Venue - Bottomley Park, Halifax Street, Norman Park

Time - 8.40pm Kick off
