This weekend sees A Grade coming on-line in their first competition match of the season when A Grade and Reserve Grade travel to UQ Gatton Games against the students are always closely fought, and our trip there last year was no exception. After a hard fought win in Reserve Grade the end of the A Grade game threw up its' own controversy. While the game books had the score down as a victory for the students the referee was adamant the result was a draw and that is what went down in the record books This leaves me in no doubt that the Gatton Bush Pigs will need no firing up this year in their desire to extract what they consider to be revenge against the Irish in both grades Trips to Gatton are always a highlight of the season due to the hospitality and the partisan crowd. With this also being their first weekend of competition for both grades a good and biased crowd is guaranteed To combat this a bus will be making its way up there to carry the Irish players and any injured or supporters who would like to make the trip Details on when it will be leaving will be posted here in the next day or so when arrangements are finalised. With a bye for all grades coming up over the Easter Weekend we need to start the competition strongly so we need all hands on deck for training on Thursday night at 6.30pm. This means that if you have not got down yet or your attendance has been irregular this is when it all has to change and the call is out to every able bodied man to show their presence Our 3rd Grade Green Machine will start the weekend with a game against Wests on Friday night. A venue and time for this game are still to be finalised but once they are know they will be posted here |
