Games 27th - 28th March

This weekend sees the official start of the 2009 season

With the A Grade having a bye our 2 lower grades will take to the fields

Friday 27th March

Our new third grade kicks off the season for the club this evening against Medicals in the Wyatt Cup at the University of Queensland, St Lucia on Pitch 5B at 8.20pm

It is great to see the Irish fielding a 3rd XV again after a season off and last night at training they trained together and Manager Micah Reynolds informed me there was a greater sense of urgency and enthusiasm from the team who drew with Everton Park last weekend

Having a competitive and regular 3rd grade side will be a big step forward in the growth of the club and I am sure everyone joins me in wishing them the best for their first game and the season to come

For those wishing to go along and watch your support will be greatly appreciated

Saturday 28th March

Our Reserve Grade kick off their season in the Pegg Cup tomorrow down at Beenleigh. Last year the Reserve Grade were the stars of the club when they pulled together in the final third of the season and went on to score a last minute come from behind 21-20 victory over the Pine Rivers Boars in the Grand Final of the Scotney Cup

This year though the Scotney Cup is not being held everyone finds themselves in the Pegg competition which was the one above the Scotney last year so the challenge is going to be greater but the willingness no less.

Last year Beenleigh were the winners of the Pegg Cup and were automatically promoted to the A Grade competition as a result. In recent weeks though they have managed to drop down to compete in the Pegg Cup again and promise to provide a very stern test for our first game out

For all those playing and wishing to go down and support the address of the ground is Windaroo Oval, 175 Beenleigh-Beaudesert Road, Windaroo

Kick Off is 3pm

Reds v Chiefs

After their (to some) shock victory over the Natal Sharks 2 weeks ago the Queensland Reds take to the field again v the Waikato Chiefs at Suncorp on Saturday evening at 7pm. With a 3 - 3 Win - Loss record the Reds are going to be keen to take their scalp and continue their move up the table

For those wanting to join in the festivities drink will be taken before and after the game at Kitty O'Sheas on Caxton Street where you will also be assured of seeing our Reserve Grade after their return from Beenleigh

Upcoming Games on the 3rd / 4th April

Next Friday night sees the 3rd Grade take on Wests at Wests - KO 7.30pm and on Saturday A Grade kick off their season along with Reserve grade with away games at UQ Gatton. The trip to Gatton is always a high point of the season and this year with it also being the A Grade's first game it promises to be even bigger

As usual a bus will be going through to Gatton from the club so lets see a big turn out at training next week so we can go there in numbers
