The Gambling Community Benefit FundThe Gambling Community Benefit Fund was established in 1994 as a joint initiative of the Queensland Government and the club and hotel industries. The Fund returns to Queenslanders a percentage of revenue raised from Taxes placed on Golden Casket lotteries, wagering, keno and gaming machines. By providing access to financial assistance the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, the Queensland Government demonstrates a strong commitment to ensure, on balance, the community benefits from gambling activities. The Fund is just one way the Queensland Government supports and recognises the significant and vital contributions not-for-profit groups make to the state. In 2007 the club applied for a grant through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. Items requested were:-
The Computer and Office equipment is being used to increase the efficiency of administrative processes at the club and to help with player registrations, website administration and communication and correspondence both internally and externally of the club. The video camera is being used by the club's coaching staff to analyse game footage to help players inmprove their individual skills and the club's teams remain competitive throughout the season. In February 2008 our application for funding for over $8000 was approved. The club has now obtained the nominated equipment and the efficiencies created by it acquisition are already being noticed. The February 2008 round of funding marks the 57th quarterly round of funding, taking the total amount of allocations to over $342 million, with more than 31,000 community based projects supported since the Fund began in 1994. Brisbane Irish Rugby Football Club Inc. has a continual emphasis on participation and enjoyment of rugby with individuals choosing to what level they wish to achieve. We take a whole of community approach so that all members can access services equitably. This includes indigenous, gender, ethnicity, disabled, youth, juniors, and senior community members. The acquisition of the funded equipment will further support the goals and objectives of the club.
