Shane Murphy was named Brisbane Irish Player of the Year for 2011 and received the Donaghue Trophy at the Annual Awards Dinner last night.

Shane polled the most votes throughout the season where he captained the club's A grade side from scrum half.

He also took the opportunity to announce that it would be his final season at the club and he would be leaving to join former Brisbane Irish player and big brother Gavin at GPS.

Everyone at the Irish would like to wish Shane all the best in the future and to thank him for the huge effort he put in, on and off the field in 2011.
